    General Position Summary

    The Communications Associate is responsible for creating core communications materials and managing Last Mile Health’s digital presence, as aligned with the organization’s communications strategy. The Communications Associate will also manage an editorial calendar, as well as support internal communication efforts led by senior leadership.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Contribute content for core communication materials (including quarterly report, one pagers, organization profiles, annual report, etc.) and annual appeal
    • Manage Last Mile Health’s digital presence, including social media profiles (including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & LinkedIn), MailChimp email blasts, Last Mile Health’s website, and Flickr account.
    • Develop and maintain clear, thorough mechanisms for tracking and analyzing social media, email, and website analytics
    • Create clear, concise reports on online engagement analytics for presentation to the Deputy Director of Communications
    • Provide support to the Deputy Director of Communications on communication activities tied to Last Mile Health’s core operations in Liberia, expansion to a second country, global advocacy and policy work, and the Community Health Academy.
    • Support content creation for Board of Directors meetings, Advisory Council calls, and Quarterly Insight calls for external stakeholders on a quarterly basis.
    • Manage editorial calendar and coordinate monthly meetings across internal stakeholders to facilitate information sharing that feeds into external communications.
    • Manage how communication materials are shared on the LMH intranet platform.
    • Update media archive.
    • Provide support to Deputy Director of Communications, CEO, and COO on select internal communications, including weekly email updates and managing organization’s info account on a daily basis.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree
    • 1-2 years' experience in a communications role
    • Background in communications
    • Experience with website and social media management
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to develop clear and convincing external materials
    • Graphic design skills a plus
    • Strong interpersonal and networking skills
    • Ability to work independently with limited structural support
    • Generosity of spirit, sensitivity/diplomacy, and willingness to make sacrifices in service of the mission
    • Commitment to health and social justice
    • Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks in time-sensitive manner
    • Comfort working with a casual but high-performing team
    • High degree of English fluency required
